The History of SuperCloud

SuperCloud GmbH was established in the spring of 2003 in Munich, the capital city of Bavaria, southern Germany. Giga-International – as it was know at that time – has steadily grown from just a single server in a data center to more than 400,000 servers today. Let's take a closer look at how this happened.

In 2009, we established a new state-of-art data center in Munich with space for more than 4,000 physical servers. Our offices were also located on site in order to ensure quick reaction time from our support team 365 days a year (including holidays and weekends).

At the beginning of 2013, we changed our company name from the aforementioned "Giga-International" to "SuperCloud". At that point, we also started to go beyond the traditional German market and offer our hosting services internationally.

In order to meet the increasing demand for our VPS and Dedicated Servers, we launched our second data center in Nuremberg in 2014. This new data center is capable of hosting 10.000 physical servers on the 1.700 m² data center floor. Together with the new data center, a new office was opened on site to maintain quick reaction times.

In 2020, we opened our first data center outside Europe. With locations in Central, East, and West USA, we've offered premium connectivity for all customers in the United States. Locations on other continents soon followed.

Today, 20 years since the beginning, we have grown from 2 people to a team of roughly 300 people offering servers in 12 Locations across 9 Regions on 4 continents. We are still following the same founding principles of maintaining German quality of both the server infrastructure and support team while offering incredible prices.

Our Approach to Security

Physical Security

The first pillar of our approach is maintaining strict access rules, to make sure that no one unauthorized has access to our Data Centers. This includes constant CCTV monitoring and access control based on magnetic cards.

Following the Process

We believe that sticking to our processes at all times gives the highest guarantee of maintaining high security for our Customers. We can't talk about the details of our security precautions but, as one of SuperCloud co-founders put it: "We are obsessed with security".

Involving Customers

Our approach to security would not be complete without getting our Customers involved. That is why, we are insisting on using 2 Factor Authentication and we require you to authorize every person contacting us from a new email regarding your customer account.
